Configurable Products in eCommerce and Dynamics GP

Filed under: General — Info @ 9:05 am

Need for Flexibility
Here at the DynaStore, we have many different types of customers and business models that have allowed us to utilize our creative talent.  Products these days are more customizable than before, and technology has allowed businesses to take those features and place them online for consumers to customize and then buy.  Unfortunately, a lot of
e-commerce systems do not provide the flexibility necessary for these types of products to be presented in such a way that is user-friendly on the front end, but also easy to maintain behind the scenes.

Customizable and Flexible Solution
The DynaStore responded to the nature of these product customizations and combinations by creating an interface for businesses to not only list these products online, but also the ability to allow their customers to create the combinations that fit their needs.  The software architects at The DynaStore  created a way for these customizable products to be listed online, customized according to the customer’s needs, purchased securely using industry leading shopping cart technology, and then integrated into Dynamics GP for further processing.  We’ve utilized, in my opinion, the greatest asset of technology, abstraction.   A great example of abstraction is a television.  We simply press a button and the channel changes.  But behind the scenes, very complex electrical components and computer chips communicate to achieve the goal.  That is what we’ve done with our software and our clients love it!

Need for More
If you would like to see some examples, go to Payment Alliance International, AVP Security, or Backwaters to see how we helped businesses with complex product customizations to deliver to their clients.  If you need more, we are here to help!

Standard Pricing vs. Extended Pricing in Dynamics GP

Filed under: General — Info @ 10:41 am

Pricing in Microsoft Dynamics GP
In this article, I will expound on a lot of great information gathered from the Dynamics GP community and also from the Internet at large.  Thanks to Ian Stewart from Genesys Financial Systems and Steve Chapman from Rose Business Solutions for sharing some great information and experience on the topic.  After reading this article you will have a good understanding of the two main pricing options in Great Plains.

Standard Pricing
Standard pricing in Dynamics GP is centered around the Item.  Typical brick-and-mortar stores such as Wal-Mart, Target, or Macy’s have items in the store that customers come to purchase at a set price. If any deals are displayed, it is applied to the item itself, and is available to all customers in the store.  In Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains there is an entity called a Price Level, by which you can organize your customers and then offer all customers in that Price Level an item at the same price.  For example,

  • Gold Price Level – Item #ABC-123 sells for $29.99
  • Silver Price Level – Item #ABC-123 sells for $39.99
  • Bronze Price Level – Item #ABC-123 sells for $49.99

You could then offer your most faithful customers the Gold Price Level, giving them the best price for Item #ABC-123.  You could also modify the item within that entire Price Level, saving you time and resources of doing it manually across the board.

Extended Pricing
Extended pricing in Dynamics GP is centered around the customer.  Prices are structured in the Great Plains system with the customer in mind, or from the perspective of the customer.  For instance, you may run a B2B establishment that sells coffee to different businesses.   With over 100 businesses in your network of customers, and each customer having a different negotiated price, the Standard Pricing model may not be the best fit for this pricing structure.  You could choose the Extended Pricing model to accomodate the nature of your business.

Extended Pricing: Other Features
You can add a number of pricing calculation methods within the Extended Pricing model, such as date sensitive price ranges (promotions), quanity based promotions (buy 10, get 1 free), and other helpful pricing combinations.  Another advantage is that you don’t have to add a price level for each differing item price.  You can create what is called a price sheet of items, assign them to a price book, and then assign the price book to the customer.  This gives you more flexibility in possibly having the same item listed at 100 different prices for each of your 100 customers.

In Conclusion
Both Standard Pricing and Extended Pricing have pros and cons.  Let us know if you would like to see a demo of The DynaStore and how it accomplishes the different pricing models through eCommerce integration to Dynamics GP.  Give us a call at 1.877.932.5665 or shoot us an email at info@thedynastore.com and we’ll help in anyway we can.

Batting 1000!

Filed under: General — Chad Rainey @ 3:12 pm

We have been doing integrations for eCommerce for over 6 years.  Nothing has been thrown at The DynaStore team that hasn’t been slapped up the middle for a base hit, or over the wall for a bases loaded grand slam.  With seasoned programmers on staff and saavy veterans in the bullpen, we can handle any Microsoft Dynamics GP integration customization that comes at us.  We recently built a system that allows customers to place recurring orders that flow, on schedule, into the Great Plains system with no user intervention.  We also have customizations that do the following:

  • allow customers to have product attributes (size, color, type, etc.)
  • automatic invoice update email notifications
  • seamless integration back into Great Plains for shipping status updates
  • multi site, multi country store setup

If you haven’t seen our demo, be sure to check it out.  When you are looking for a company, be sure to get one that can move with your business.  Business is dynamic, and you don’t want to be bound to a system that is immovable or unreasonable when it comes to customizations.

Contact us directly and we will set you up for a free demo of our system and answer any questions you may have.  1.877.932.5665 or email us at info@thedynastore.com and one of our representatives will be in touch.

Frequently Asked Questions
Typical questions that customers have, we’ve listed them here for viewing and information benefits to our clients and prospective clients.  Enjoy and contact us if you have further questions.

PC: What is The DynaStore?
DS: The DynaStore is the #1 e-commerce integration for Dynamics GP, formerly known as Great Plains.  The DynaStore seamlessly integrates orders, customers, invoices, quantity on hand, price changes, and purchase orders right into the Dynamics GP system.  No added administration.  We also offer a fully loaded marketing strategy that has taken numerous companies to the top using SEO, eNewsletters, Blogs, video and social media integration.
E-Commerce is only a small, yet vital, part of the package.  We don’t like to stop at just getting people online.  We want them to dominate their market.  And we have the tools to do so.

PC: What sets you apart from the competition?
DS: We respect our competition.  There are a few great companies out there who do what we do, kind of.  I am a big proponent of the follow proverb: “If you want to be set apart, you have to do those things that set you apart.”  And we have done just that.  We’ve provided a fully loaded, feature-rich solution that doesn’t just get people online and linked into Dynamics GP.  Our ecommerce business suite gets them a clean web design with a fully functional web store.  Our CMS (content management system) allows them to edit pages any time without our help.  Our link to Dynamics GP is seamless.  Where we really destroy the competition is our marketing strategy.  We have a power-packed, proven strategy with SEO, eNewsletters, Blogs, video, and social media integration that can’t be matched.

PC: The all important question.  How much does it cost to get The DynaStore?
DS: The DynaStore is the best solution in the market, bar none.  Especially when you include price.  We have two different payment options.  One allows our clients who are wanting to go ecommerce to pay outright for the system, called our Purchase Option.  The second option, known as our Licensing Option, allows them to license the system and pay on a monthly basis. Customers get the ecommerce business suite, the link to Dynamics GP, the simple content management system, and a fresh clean web design.  Our additional features such as SEO, eNewsletters, blogs, videos, and social media integration can be rolled into the monthly pricing if necessary.  We are very affordable.  Luxury has finally met affordability for ecommerce integrations to Dynamics GP.
